How to play BlackJack? You’ve probably asked yourself this question a thousand times. It’s a very famous casino game, but perhaps it’s been slow to gain popularity in Spain. How to Play BlackJack: Basic Rules
Let’s see. Let’s start at the beginning of the principles.
BlackJack is usually played by a maximum of 7 players
The players play with 2 starting cards and they are placed face up on the table. The croupier plays with one card face up and another face down.
Goal
In BlackJack, also called Twenty-One, the basic objective is to beat the dealer with your cards, which must add up to a value of 21 or as close to 21 without going over (taking exactly 21 is called a Blackjack). So?
- Beat the dealer’s hand (which can never be more than 21)
- DO NOT go over 21 points if the dealer’s hand exceeds it
As you can see, in BlackJack the player basically competes against the dealer (a number that, by the way, must be studied thoroughly, for which we have prepared a great tutorial).
Card values
To achieve this, as we said, we must form hands whose score is as close as possible to the said number of 21 points. Each card in the deck has a standard value:
- The Ace scores either 1 or 11 points, depending on the rest of the hand the player is currently holding.
- Numbers receive 10 points
- The remaining cards in the deck count their face value
Having explained all this, let’s imagine a situation: we have the dealer in front of us and the rest of the players next to us. We have already been dealt 2 cards, face up, and the rest of the players and the croupier have theirs. How does the game continue?
Possible actions
Hit: The dealer gives us a card that is added to our hand (face up)
Stand: Stop playing until the countdown once the round is over
Double bet: The player receives an additional card in return for doubling his bet
Give up
Split Pairs: If you have two cards of the same kind, you can split them into two different hands. Each hand carries its bet separately
A blackjack table can always tell you which option is best.
Win or lose
As we explained at the beginning, a player wins if the following assumptions are true:
- He has not exceeded 21 points and his score, however high, exceeds that of the dealer
- Get 21 points with a BlackJack (now we explain what this game consists of)
You also lose if:
- He is surpassed by the dealer and does not exceed 21 points
- If you go over 21 points
What is “having BlackJack”?
A BlackJack is considered when a player naturally adds exactly 21 points, with only 2 cards, with this hand consisting of a number (10) and an ACE (11).

Well… now that we know roughly how to play BlackJack, what should we do? Just start playing? No way! It takes a lot of time, patience and a lot of practice to master a room through a beginner BlackJack strategy and end up being a good player.
In addition (and we have already explained this in other Blackjack tips tutorials), we must always keep in mind that it is a very mathematical game. If you have a little mental greed, it is very likely that the player will quickly get used to the game mechanics, limit probabilities and play with simple mental calculations.
But be careful! This does not mean that we are already experts or that we will become millionaires by playing BlackJack. As we said, you must always play with a lot of head and responsibility and spend a lot of time and practice before becoming a regular BlackJack player in an online casino.
