The Sale of Rupert's Land to Canada

After significant pressure from Great Britain, the Hudson's Bay Company sold Rupert's Land to Canada. The sale was made without consultation with the residents of the land, including settlers, First Nations and Métis peoples. John A. Macdonald wished to incorporate the area's existing inhabitants into a union with Canada.
