Today Canada's Library of Parliament is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful parts of the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. What the public doesn't see, however, is the non-partisan research performed by the Library's staff for Senators and Members. Sir John A. Macdonald, a keen reader himself, took part in the earliest debates that helped craft the rules of the new Library of Parliament.
